Reaching Koh Taen is simple, and you have a few options depending on your starting point:
How to Get There
Fom Koh Samui
Flying to Koh Samui
You can fly directly to Koh Samui’s picturesque airport. It’s small, open-air, and one of the most beautiful in the world.
For a more budget-friendly route, fly to Surat Thani on the mainland, then take a bus or taxi to the pier, followed by a one-hour boat ride to Koh Samui.
Bus + Ferry Combo from Bangkok
The cheapest way to get here is with a “bus + ferry” ticket from Bangkok. The bus ride takes around 8 hours, and once you arrive at the pier, your ticket includes the ferry to Koh Samui. Check 12go.asia for tickets and schedules.
Once you’re in Koh Samui, make your way to Thongkrut Pier on the southern side of the island. It’s the departure point for boats heading to Koh Taen.
Here’s how far the pier is from popular spots on Koh Samui:
26 km from the airport
28 km from Bangrak Pier
15 km from Nathon Pier
You can grab a taxi or share one with other travelers. If you’re looking to split costs, the SENSE Community page on Facebook is a great place to connect with others heading the same way.
